The federal government has it sights set on improving quad bike design and engineering controls, not just training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Last week the government released the discussion paper “Review of design and engineering controls for improving quad bike safety”. Read more »
The corporate sector is being urged to play a greater role in improving road safety.
The National Transport Commission last week released the “National Road Safety Partnership Program draft strategy”, which recognises the important role industry can play in improving road safety in Australia. Read more »
PTTEP Australasia has been convicted and fined $510, 000 for the Montara wellhead platform blowout in August 2009.
An uncontrolled release of oil and gas from the platform continued uninterrupted from 21 August to 1 November 2009—until fluid was pumped into the affected well from a relief well. Read more »
The Office of Asbestos Safety will be established to develop the national strategic plan recommended in the recently released Asbestos Management Review.
